She & Him - Volume One

Why we like it: #1, Zooey Deschanel is HOT. Granted, music is for your ears and not for your eyes, but with this record, Deschanel definitely added more hot points to her count. This record is 12 very simple songs, and you won't find a lot of over-production here. She & Him could easily be the new face of a 'Grand Ole Opry' sort of venue. Bringing country back to cool.
Why we don't: She twangs. When I looked around at all tags regarding She & Him, never did they mention a "country" or "alt-country" sound. I'm here to tell you that it totally is. Lap steel and everything. If you like country even a smidge, you'll enjoy her new take on old classics (You've really got a hold on me, I should have known better). If you won't even admit to liking Johnny Cash, this record isn't for you.
